Welcome to the Stress, Trauma, and Affect Regulation (STAR) Laboratory. As part of the clinical psychology division in the Department of Psychology, Yonsei University, our laboratory focuses on examining the biopsychosocial mechanism and sequelae of stress and trauma. The impact of childhood abuse and adversity, as well as stressful life events on our psychosocial adjustment and well-being across the lifespan is one area of investigation. Within this research domain, our laboratory also addresses the significant effects of natural and man-made disasters on survivors and disaster response teams. We hope to uncover what factors increase our vulnerability following trauma and what factors may buffer the impact of stressful events.

Another broad area of interest focuses on examining the role of emotion regulation and dysregulation in psychological disorders such as depression, social anxiety disorder, and eating disorder across the lifespan. More specific focus revolves around (1) uncovering particular affect (dys)regulation tendencies related to specific psychological conditions and (2) the interaction of parent's emotion awareness and regulation tendencies and child's temperament in accounting for behavior problems in childhood and adolescence from a developmental psychopathology standpoint.

2025-2학기 연구조교 모집은 마감되었습니다. 2026-1학기 연구조교 선발 여부 및 안내는 추후 공지할 예정입니다. STAR 연구실 연구조교는 매주 진행되는 랩미팅에 참석하고(2학기 일정 수강신청 기간 후 확정 예정), 연구 자료수집 참여 기회가 제공됩니다. 희망할 경우 추가 활동(논문 작성, 통계분석 등)에도 참여할 수도 있습니다. 지원의사가 있을 경우 또는 문의사항이 있는 경우 박수현 교수에게 이메일로 연락해주기 바라며 지원하고자 할 경우 간략한 CV 또는 이력서도 첨부해주기 바랍니다. 자세한 지원 관련 내용은 연구실 홈페이지 Notice 탭에서 확인하시기 바랍니다.

​본 연구실 대학원 진학 관련 문의에 대한 공지

별도의 공지가 없는 한 매 학기 좋은 지원자가 있을 경우 1-2인의 신입생을 선발하고 있습니다. 별도로 선발여부를 문의하실 필요 없습니다. 

연세대학교 심리학과 임상심리학 전공으로 스트레스, 외상과 정서조절 연구실에 진학을 계획하는 지원자들은 아래 사항을 반드시 참고하시기 바랍니다. 

  1. 연구년 등으로 대학원생을 선발하지 못 할 경우 대학원 연구실 소개 페이지에 공지할 예정입니다.
  2. 학부 전공과는 무관하게 심리학 전공 필수과목(심리학개론, 통계분석, 연구방법 또는 실험설계)과 선택과목(임상심리, 이상심리, 사회심리 등)을 정규 학부과정에서 이수한 지원자를 우선 고려하고 있습니다. 
  3. 본 연구실과 지원자의 관심 연구 주제의 적합성을 충분히 고려한 후 지원하시기 바랍니다.
  4. 대학원 전형에서는 1차 서류 심사를 거쳐 소수의 인원이 2차 면접 심사에 초대됩니다. 서류 심사에서 우선적으로 고려되는 사항은 학부 전공 및 심리학 과목 이수 현황, 학점, 관련 연구 경험 및 성과, 연구계획서의 내용 및 적절성, 공인 영어 성적입니다. 연구계획서에는 특별한 양식이 없습니다.

If you are interested in applying to our Stress, Trauma and Affet Regulation laboratory for a graduate degree in clinical psychology, we strongly recommend you to refer to the following conditions:

  1. If we are not accepting new graduate students, it will be announced on the laboratory homepage. Otherwise, you do not need to inquire whether we are recruiting new graduate students.
  2. It is strongly recommended that you have majored in psychology as an undergraduate with strong performance in required courses such as research methods, statistics, introduction to psychology, clinical psychology, and abnormal psychology. 
  3. Please refer to the lab's research focus and ongoing research projects to ascertain whether your interests match well with what our lab offers. Please do not inquire with the lab advisor about the lab's research projects and plans.
  4. Applications will be reviewed and selected few will be invited for our entrance interview. Applications will be reviewed in regards to undergraduate major, the depth and variety in psychology courses, undergraduate grade, comprehensiveness and content of the research plan, and official English proficiency test score. Research plan may be drafted freely. 
  5. If you are not competent in Korean, this will significantly affect your graduate studies, as well as your mandatory clinical training during the graduate program. To this end, foreign nationals must demonstrate advanced proficiency in Korean. This will entail your ability to comprehend advanced research articles written in Korean, as well as communicating fluently in Korean with potential consumers of clinical services. As our clinical psychology graduate degree requires two semesters of clinical practicum, and as all current practicum placements require communication with Korean nationals in conducting psychological assessment and drafting psychological assessment reports, Korean proficiency is required. Many international students have applied to our laboratory but no one has successfully been admitted. This applies to all GKS applicants who are interested in our laboratory.
